Shattering Record after Record
Achieving greatness at only 24 years old is something only most of us can dream of. Greatness takes years and years of hard work, dedication and discipline to one’s craft. After last night, Patrick Mahomes not only ended a 50-year old Super Bowl drought for the Kansas City Chiefs and brought the state of Missouri back a championship title it so desperately wanted but he is the youngest to claim two separate MVP trophies.
For most of the game, Mahomes was under constant pressure and distress and looked to be flustered after the deep ball was almost non-existent. However, all great players come through in the clutch and down by 10 with just over 6 minutes to play, Mahomes went to work. The biggest play of the game came on a 3rd and 15 where he hit Tyreek Hill for a 44-yard catch setting them up inside the red zone of the 49ers and the rest was history. Kansas City scored 21 straight points in the final 6 minutes to win 31-20. Mahomes finished 26 of 42 for 286 yards and two touchdowns including a running touchdown.
Although, Mahomes had a rough three and a half quarters, he pulled through when the team needed it and enough so to win Super Bowl MVP and become the 2nd youngest to ever do it behind Ben Roethlisberger. With earning the Super Bowl MVP, he adds the treasured trophy to his 2018 NFL MVP trophy of last year, which makes him the youngest player and only person under 25 to have earned a Superbowl MVP and NFL MVP. Last year, Mahomes had a monster season, throwing for over 5,000 passing yards and 50 touchdowns and becoming only the second person ever to do so.
Mahomes is only 24 years old and has already eclipsed records that even the biggest quarterback names in the league haven’t touched. Mahomes is out here chasing the impossible and showing the league he’s almost unstoppable.
